This paper���s design was inspired by the net-like surface texture ofmelons, thus the Japanese name ���Melook��� meaning ���the look of melons���.After forming a random web of cotton strings on a frame, wet mulberryfiber is applied and ���caught��� by the strings, creating an open-meshedlace pattern. The wet sheet is then dried on the frame to set thepattern, which is unique to each handmade sheet. Melook���s texture isgreat for use in interior design projects such as lampshades or wallhangings, adds interest to collage, bookmaking and more.
