This papers design was inspired by the net-like surface texture ofmelons, thus the Japanese name Melook- meaning The Look of Melons. Afterforming a random web of cotton strings on a frame, wet mulberry fiberis applied and caught by the strings, creating an open-meshed lacepattern. The wet sheet is then dried on the frame to set the pattern,which is unique to each handmade sheet. The texture of Melook is greatfor use in interior design projects such as lampshades or wall hangings,adds interest to collage, bookmaking, scrapbooking, collage, cardmaking, and more.
