Tie Dye Shibarizome Paper from Thailand Sienna 19"x29" Sheet

This retro paper brings us back to the 60s, the heyday of tie-dye. Shiborizome, the Japanese word for tie-dying, begins by gathering portions of this soft mulberry paper together and wrapping them tightly with threads before dyeing. The dyed sheets are then allowed to dry before the thread is removed, to maintain the textured surface. The thread and the gathers resist the dye, creating the pattern. Each sheet is dyed by hand and no two sheets will be exactly alike. This paper has got to be touched to be fully appreciated- the crinkle and dye process leaves it feeling like fabric.
